A Message From Hydro One:

The high winds predicted for this week materialized in some regions and we currently are experiencing outages in areas across the province.

We understand that being without power is challenging. Our crews are responding to outages across parts of the province affected by high winds, which are forecasted to continue until midnight meaning additional outages are anticipated. In some areas white out conditions and icy roads are delaying crew response times.

Peterborough County, ON – Peterborough County is proud to invite residents to help celebrate the people, groups, and organizations who make our communities exceptional by submitting nominations for the 2026 Community Recognition Awards.

The Municipal office will close at 12 p.m. on December 24, 2025, for the holidays, and will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

All transfer station sites will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Council and staff wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!

Lakelands Public Health is pleased to be offering 750 free radon test kits to community members this year, as part of the Evict Radon National Study. Community members who receive a kit must agree to be a part of the study, set up the device for at least 91 days, and then send the kit (pre-paid envelope included) to be analyzed.

Trent Lakes Fire Rescue is launching the annual 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety campaign to remind Ontarians to take proper fire safety precautions and stay fire safe this holiday season.

As winter arrives, the likelihood of weather warnings increases significantly. From snowstorms to freezing rain, these weather events often require extra vigilance and preparedness.

Trent Lakes Fire Rescue have compiled resources that provide real-time alerts for weather conditions. Please keep these links on hand for every season and be prepared.
